The Right to Buy
The right to buy was bought in by the Conservative Government in 1980 so that Council House Tenants could purchase their own property.
You can buy your home by paying the full purchase price at once with discounts depending upon how many years you have spent as a tenant in the public sector.
SH&M have dealt with this type of acquisition from the inception of the scheme and has a wide experience in dealing with such matter.
The Right to Aquire
The right to acquire was established in 1996 and gives eligible Housing Association Tenants a statutory right to purchase the property in which they live at a discount depending upon the Local Authority in which the area is located.
Generally the right to acquire only applies to properties built or acquired by Housing Associations with public funds from the 1st April 1997 onwards.
